Taj Exotica Resort & Spa

Havelock Island | Deluxe

Located right on Radhanagar beach on a site covering 46 acres, the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa was built to celebrate and integrate with Havelock Island’s natural beauty. Staying here is a chance to immerse yourself in all its glorious biodiversity, enjoying sustainable luxury on a resort that values the environment as highly as its guests.

The resort was created without cutting down a single tree. Wooden decking and paths are laid neatly around each trunk and its 54 luxurious villas are dotted between tropical forest and coconut groves. The villas are made from sustainable plantation timber and their design is inspired by the dwellings of the Jarawa tribe who live on the Andamans, with semi-circular roofs to keep the space cool. Interiors are minimal and modernist, with artworks depicting the nearby ocean and its sealife. Some villas have a private pool and they can all comfortably accommodate a family of four or more.

Each of the resort’s three restaurants offers a distinctive cuisine, from regional curries to a global grill, and a community dining room serving food inspired by immigrants who settled on the island. You can also dine in your villa any time of the day or night.

Obviously, lazing on your deck watching kingfishers dart between branches or swimming in the Olympic-size infinity pool would make for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, but there are lots of other activities available that take you deeper into the island’s land and seascape. Go scuba diving over the coral reefs and snorkelling between islands, enjoy some morning yoga by the pool or on the beach, cycle between the trees, kayak in the mangroves, or join a nature walk. And after all that? Head to the spa for a relaxing massage.

Kids are brilliantly catered for here, with activities designed to engage them with some hands-on ecology, from picking mangoes, mud apples and mulberries in the orchards to jungle treks, beach picnics, supervised scuba diving and shell-craft lessons.

We Say
