Samode Safari Lodge

Bandhavgarh National Park

Situated deep in tiger country, on the edge of Bandhavgarh National Park, the Samode Safari Lodge offers a luxurious base for tiger-spotting experiences. The accommodation comprises a handful of villas clustered around the main lodge, each uniquely decorated in a traditional style inspired by the local culture. Traditionally made from mud and wood, they blend in beautifully with the surroundings, making you feel part of nature but with all mod-cons on hand. Expect four-poster beds, luxurious indoor ensuite bathrooms, and a secluded outdoor bath, alongside a comfortably furnished private terrace with views into the surrounding forest.

With safari drives into the nearby National Park as part of the experience, the Samode offers an excellent chance to see tigers without compromising on luxury. The surprise dining venue each evening is the cherry on top.

Location

Located in rugged Bandhavgarh National Park, home to the highest density of tigers in the world, the Samode Safari Lodge is just a 3-hour drive from Jabalpur Airport.

Mystery dinner setting

A real highlight for us is the daily mystery dinner setting. Due to its remote location, the hotel doesn’t offer the option of being able to peruse any local restaurants or street food, but Samode brings an added element of excitement to dinner every night. Will you be eating by candlelight around the pool, cosied up in a romantic luxurious tent or out in the bush wrapped up in the wilderness?

What can you do there?

After spending the morning tiger spotting from a 4x4, return for a rejuvenating massage in the onsite spa or unwind with a good book by the pool, taking in the forest sounds. Learn more about India's rural heritage by visiting a nearby village and talking to the locals.

Sustainability

Sustainability is key at Samode Safari Lodge and several measures have been put in place to improve their environmental impact, such as using solar energy and locally-sourced, natural building materials throughout the property. The lodge is proud to have its own organic garden, and produce grown here is used in the kitchen, as well as ingredients sourced from local businesses. They continue to provide education to the community’s younger generation on the surrounding ecosystem, as well as raising awareness of the importance of an ‘eco’ way of living.
