Deo Bagh is a unique heritage hotel with its own on-site ancient architectural treasures, including two 17th century temples - it’s rather like staying in a museum, but with plenty of modern comforts!
The historic complex was once the summer home of princes, whose descendants still own the property and, if you’re lucky, are around to welcome guests. No new buildings have been constructed, and every care is taken to preserve both the original features, and the resident birdlife - 30 species make their home here.
Guestrooms are situated in low buildings around a peaceful Persian-style garden, and are presented in a simple but lovely style. Focus is on the original marble floors and decorative features, with the dark wooden furniture and comfortable decorative textiles in keeping with the mood. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom and several have a private terrace.
Dine on north Indian cuisine and authentic Maratha dishes at the hotel’s restaurant, which also serves a few European dishes in case you’re feeling a little curried out after your travels! Meals are served in a 17th century dining room, and private dining is available.
Spend your time here wandering in the expansive gardens, admiring the historic architecture, exploring the guava orchards, and keeping your eyes open for civet cats at dusk.
