Tamarind Hill

Galle | Superior

Tamarind Hill is tucked away on a three-acre estate next to the meandering Gin Ganga River on the outskirts of Galle. The Old Dutch Fort and Galle’s historic highlights are just a short tuk-tuk ride, or easy seafront stroll away.

The manor house is a fascinating building; built 250 years ago by a rich Sri Lankan aristocrat. Now carefully transformed into a boutique hotel, the property has kept its original charm, with Colonial-style furniture and period antiques; traditional art and romantic four-poster beds in the rooms. Bathrooms are spacious, with modern amenities and luxury ayurvedic amenities.

Meals are served in the cosy covered restaurant, influenced by the local spice industry alongside other international cuisines. Cocktails and local teas are also available throughout the day in the two lounge bars. When you’re not exploring nearby Galle, head to the spa for traditional treatments using ocean salts, coconut oil and cinnamon, or relax in the landscaped gardens surrounding the outdoor pool.

We Say
A characterful property with a fascinating past - all within easy reach of Galle.
