Lanjia Lodge
Chiang Rai | Other
Half way up a remote hillside in supremely peaceful Chiang Rai sit the four Hmong-style bamboo houses of Lanjia Lodge, an eco-friendly, community-based project run, on the most part, by members of the region’s Hmong and Lahu tribes.
Each stilted house contains four rooms with verandah, private facilities, comfortable, king-sized beds, and absolutely astonishing views across the valley and nearby countryside. Decoration is natural and simple but charming, using regional artifacts and artisan fabrics made using traditional techniques - skill in these remains highly valued amongst the tribespeople.
Guests can arrange to share tea with a local shaman, of which there are several, and enjoy a range of complementary activities including bird-watching, fishing, trekking and bike-rides through the stunning local environment, and hands-on handicraft workshops where you can learn some of those prized artisan techniques.
