Hakone | Ryokan
This modern ryokan is ideally located within strolling distance of Lake Ashi and conveniently close to the bus terminal, making it the perfect base from which to explore Hakone and the scenic surrounds.
Accommodation is split between the ‘honkan’ (original building) and a ‘bekkan’ (an annex building). The guest rooms in each building are similar in style – traditional and minimalist, with tatami flooring and futon bedding that’s rolled out every evening; a small seating area and large picture window. However, rooms in the honkan are slightly larger and the en-suite facilities additionally feature a bath (bekkan rooms only have an en-suite toilet).
As with all ryokans, the food is typically Japanese: dinner is a feast of small dishes, some of which will be familiar and some not so, and breakfast is equally plentiful. Those staying in the honkan enjoy all meals in the privacy of their own room; whereas for bekkan guests, only dinner is served in the room and breakfast is set up in the dining area. A Hakone guesthouse wouldn’t be complete without an onsen and Yugiriso boasts three shared hot spring baths.
