Hotel Nikko Kanazawa

Kanazawa

This refined city property is the epitome of modern Japanese luxury. Formal, slick, and neutral, some may feel it lacking in a bit of character, but it excels in being a smart, comfortable base to recharge your batteries. Housed in a slim 30-storey skyscraper, on the 17th floor and above, it makes a wonderfully refreshing, contemporary addition to a longer itinerary, especially one featuring a lot of traditional accommodation. All rooms enjoy views over the city towards the sea and mountains: the higher the floor, the better the views.

Hotel Nikko’s location directly in front of Kanazawa Station means the journey from Tokyo aboard the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train, a swift 2.5 hour service, is virtually door to door. The authentic kaiseki menu at one of the hotel’s impressive range of restaurants is well worth sampling, and we’d recommended a visit to the top floor bar to view the city nightscape and peruse the sophisticated drinks menu.

Location

Centrally located in the heart of Kanazawa, and connected by an underground passage to the train station, the transit time from train to lobby approximately 3 minutes!

Contemporary style

Staying in traditional accommodation is wonderful, but enjoying a more modern experience can be a refreshing way to mix things up a little. In this regard, the Nikko is perfect. Dine on everything from teppanyaki grilled steak to intricately prepared seafood in the numerous onsite restaurants, and top off a full day’s city exploring with a glass of fizz at the cosy sky lounge.

Dependable quality

The Nikko brand offers reliable, high quality properties and are a prime example of modern Japanese hospitality. There’s a reliable simplicity to the modern décor, though some of the top-end suites have a little more character than your average mid-city high-rise, and the views over the city are always centre stage. A reliable ‘go to’ for contemporary comfort.
