Ibusuki | Superior
Standing right by the sea, and 5km from the centre of Ibusuki, the Koran-No-Yu Kinkouroh is a quiet, clean and relaxing base for exploring southern Kyushu. You’re well placed to discover local highlights, from lakes to mountains, and once back at the hotel, can enjoy a soak in the hot spring bath or simply enjoy the views from your balcony.
All the guest rooms have direct sea views over Kinko Bay, towards the active volcano of Sakurajima. Western rooms are simply furnished with beds, carpet and neutral colours, while Japanese rooms have tatami matting and futon beds. Some Japanese rooms have private open-air baths, while other rooms make use of shared bathroom facilities.
Food is a highlight here, with a traditional multi-course kaiseki dinner served in the evening and a Japanese set menu at breakfast, all celebrating local ingredients. After dinner, relax in the lounge, sip local sake from the superb selection stocked in the bar, or let rip with some karaoke.
There are indoor and outdoor hot spring baths at the hotel, massage is available, and a shuttle bus service can whisk you to Saraku Sand Bath, just a 15-minute drive away. Being covered in sand warmed by hot springs is a relaxing highlight of a stay in Kyushu!
A comfortable seaside hotel, well placed for the famous sand baths, with super sea views.
