One of the first hotels on Batu Ferringhi beach, the Lone Pine began life as a 10 room family run hotel back in 1948 and, despite expanding and upgrading over the years it still retains an old world charm and an intimate ambiance.
The hotel’s latest renovation, in 2010, added an entirely new 50 room building with a more contemporary vibe that successfully blends with the original Colonial-style property. Room interiors are uncluttered and fresh; dark wood floors and whitewashed walls are livened up with splashes of bold colours. Views are towards the sea or across the well-kept lawns.
The hotel grounds, dotted with hammocks and sun-loungers, are conducive to maximum relaxation, as is the spa – we love the airy outdoor cabanas. When it comes to eating, there are plenty of local eateries along the stretch of road just outside the hotel as well as the busy night market, but if you choose to dine in the resort the two restaurants offer everything from steaks and pasta to tapas and Japanese specialities – the bento boxes are ideal for a beach picnic.
We SayBatu Ferringhi's only beachside boutique hotel.
