The Banjaran Hot Springs Retreat

Ipoh, 3 hours north of KL

This entirely individual (and essentially adults only) wellness retreat is exactly what some of us are looking for.  A medley of healing facilities awaits, including geothermal pools, a steam cave, an ice cave, a mediation cave, and more besides. The resort’s spa offers comprehensive treatment programmes along with a range of lavish beauty and relaxation therapies.

Spacious villas are laid out through tropical gardens and along a placid canal that runs through the grounds. Some have balconies overhanging the water, and all have plunge pools and geothermal jacuzzis set into their patios. This niche, inland resort really can serve in place of a beach stay in terms of relaxation. Healthy meals made with locally-sourced ingredients are served in your villa or at the relaxed garden restaurant. One of the resort’s most intriguing features is the wine bar inside a cave which is one of Asia’s most unusual drinking venues.

Location

Approximately 3 hours north of Kuala Lumpur on the outskirts of the city of Ipoh, the Banjaran makes the most of the location’s natural splendour.

A firm favourite

We always have great feedback from clients who visit the Banjaran, hence it remains a favourite for Malaysia journeys. It’s clear that it isn’t for everybody, but for those well versed in the wellness world, it can be a nirvana. The resort takes itself very seriously and the staff and service are excellent. Not everyone at Selective Asia is a wellness guru, but all that have been to Banjaran have been mesmerised by the cave bar.
