Chay Lap Farmstay
Phong Nha | Standard
The word ‘farmstay’ conjures up images of basic accommodation in rustic buildings, mucking in with the farm animals and planting veggies. Not so at Chay Lap Farmstay. Yes, you can join the gardening team and lend a hand on the land, but the guest rooms are more well equipped than expected (A/C & flat screen TVs come as standard) and there’s even a swimming pool complete with a pool bar.
There’s not a thatched-roof milking shed in sight, with accommodation comprising of cosy looking bungalows and (rather conversely) contemporary style two-storey units, spread throughout the 1.8 hectares. Interiors are simple but comfortable, with modern en-suite bathrooms and each room features an outdoor terrace or balcony.
As tempting as it would be to spend the day supping cocktails beside the pool, gazing out across the farming fields and enjoying a leisurely home-cooked Vietnamese lunch, there is much to explore on the doorstep, notably the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, with the well-known Paradise and Dark Caves within 8km of the property. Besides cave exploration, take a cycle ride through the surrounding rural landscape and along the Son River or spend time learning Vietnamese with the farmstay family.
