The houses, built in 1860, are within walking distance of many other heritage sites - a perfect location for those after a dose of culture and history.
Five different types of room all showcase individual styles, with some overlooking the garden courtyard and others the skyline. Interiors are a tasteful mix of traditional Malay and Chinese influences, with dark wooden furniture and rich colours. Bathrooms are a feature rather than a necessity, with outdoor showers in some of the larger suites.
Breakfast is the only meal served at the hotel, but you’ll not go hungry as there are plenty of charming local cafes and restaurants in the surrounding old town. Complimentary afternoon tea is worth returning for, with Peranakan delicacies to sustain you until dinner.
