Belum Rainforest Resort
Belum-Temengor Rainforest | First Class
The surprisingly stylish Belum Rainforest Resort is located in Pulau Banding, a man-made island in the very heart of the Belum-Temengor Rainforest, one of the oldest rainforests in the world.
With a heavy emphasis on eco-tourism and conservation, the resort’s underlying philosophy is to provide guests with a unique rainforest experience, with minimal environmental and social impact. They follow a ‘reduce, recycle or reuse’ policy. The property has been carefully designed to blend in with its natural surroundings, built using a mix of wood and natural materials.
The rooms are contemporary in style, with nature-inspired décor and modern bathrooms. Furnishings are relatively simple but comfortable: it’s worth noting that Superior and Deluxe rooms do not feature TV’s. New in 2013, the ‘Kampung House’ suites are inspired by traditional Malay architecture, but still with a contemporary edge and have the option of 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms, making them perfect for families.
When you’re not trekking through the surrounding rainforest, kayaking on the lake or enjoying the traditional Malay cuisine in the lakeside restaurant, take time to relax beside the swimming pool and enjoy a treatment in the Asian spa.
Please note that no alcohol is served in the resort restaurants. There is a bar (operated by a third party) from where you can buy alcohol to either drink at the bar or consume in your room.
