Kri Eco Resort

Raja Ampat

On a particularly beautiful island among the hundreds-strong Raja Ampat archipelago, Kri Eco Resort puts its money where its mouth is in terms of conservation, providing a leading light in the region for responsible hospitality. Traditionally-built stilted bungalows stretch out into crystal clear shallows along a picture-perfect shoreline, enhancing the feeling of desert island isolation. The interiors feel minimalistic but comforting. This resort and its sister, the Sorido Bay, are ideal for combining R&R and adventure within West Papua’s incredible, raw landscape.

With steps leading down into the shallows, the Superior Cottages allow you to kayak, paddleboard or snorkel directly from your doorstep, while the Deluxe offer a few extra luxuries, such as private bathrooms and hammocks on terraces overlooking the shore. While world-class diving and watersports are the resort’s key focus, guests can also wander through pristine jungle, spotting cute cuscus and colourful lorikeets among others, before returning for dinner among the orchids and a sundowner on the terrace.

Location

On idyllic Kri Island in West Papua’s Raja Ampat archipelago, the bungalows at Kri Eco Resort sit out over the water, offering both true seclusion and pristine ocean views.

Conservation

Apart from having helped Raja Ampat open up its diving to enthusiasts from across the globe, the resort’s founder, Max Ammer, is an award winning conservationist with a passion for pairing responsible hospitality with protecting the natural environment. The resort’s ecological initiatives are inspiring, taking the lead in making marine tourism sustainable for future generations. Over 90% of their staff are local Papuans, with the resort actively seeking to provide viable alternative employment to logging, blast fishing and other environmentally damaging industries.
