Chiang Mai | Superior
If you’re looking for a characterful hotel with a real sense of place, in a central location but set apart from the hustle and bustle, Na Nirand ticks all the boxes. The location is spot on: in a serene setting beside the Mae Ping River in the heart of Chiang Mai, within walking distance of the old town and famous night market. And the Lanna style architecture, use of dark wood and local fabrics reinforce the sense of being in Northern Thailand.
Six rather stately looking half-wood, Colonial-Thai style residences house the 45 rooms and suites, which all feature a private balcony. Spacious room interiors focus heavily on the use of local materials and traditional crafts: wood and rattan furnishings are made by local craftsmen, as are the beautiful hand-woven textiles, such as the over-sized headboards, that add a splash of brightness to the neutral wall colours. Four individually decorated Riverfront Colonial Suites enjoy views over the river.
A more contemporary style building houses the property’s riverfront TIME Restaurant which also boasts a 360-degree rooftop bar. Get down to breakfast early to bag one of the in demand riverside tables. If you prefer to dine outside the hotel there are plenty of alternative eateries within walking distance. Also worthy of mention is the swimming pool and we understand there are plans to build a small Lanna-style spa.
We SayA wonderfully atmospheric, Thai style gem.
