Ban Hin Boun | Standard
Surrounded by secluded tropical gardens on the banks of the Namhai River, Sainamhai offers visitors a simple but comfortable base from which to explore the Khammouane Province.
Twelve individual bungalows are dotted around the site, well-spaced to combine privacy with ease of access to the facilities and undisturbed views across the landscape. The bungalows themselves are graceful, wooden-framed buildings with light, woven walls.
Raised on stilts, each one seeming to float slightly within the lush greenery, the bungalows have excellent views over the gardens and the river beyond; perfect for sitting on the terrace and enjoying a few quiet moments. The interiors are cosy and welcoming, with rustic woven walls made homely by soft lighting, pale linens and wicker. Crisp tiling and pebble details brighten the wet-room style ensuites.
Two waterfall beauty spots, Tad Muang and Tad Namsanam, are located within trekking distance of the resort, or you can get straight out onto the water and try ‘tubing’ or (for a more sedate experience!) a long-tailed boat trip.
Dining on site is a sociable occasion, as guests are seated together at long tables in the open-sided restaurant to enjoy traditional Laotian dishes and watch the river flowing past.
After dinner, why not take a chair down to the riverbank and listen to the water’s gentle rhythm as the sun goes down. This unpretentious, friendly resort is about as far as you can get from the frenzy of city life, and ideal for a little dedicated down time.
