Papua Paradise Eco Resort
Raja Ampat | First Class
Built on an idyllic little island close to Batanta, the Papua Paradise Eco Resort is perfectly placed for diving in Raja Ampat’s extraordinary marine ecosystem, and for trips to look for the region’s famous Birds of Paradise.
The resort’s lovely overwater bungalows are traditionally built with locally sourced sustainable materials. The result is a natural aesthetic of waxed wooden floors, woven walls, solid wooden furniture and softly draping nets. There’s no air-con - you’ll just have to put up with the ocean breeze, and failing that there’s a fan. Each bungalow has a private bathroom and its own outdoor space, ranging from sunbeds and a hammock to a two-tier verandah with a day-bed.
Enjoy sunset over the ocean from the restaurant, which serves a generous buffet of Indonesian and international dishes, along with fresh fruit. Soft drinks and local beer are available, but if you have a particular favourite tipple, the resort encourages you to buy this en route and bring it with you. The resort offers PADI diving guides and instructors who will accompany you to a variety of fantastic dive sites around the island, as well as snorkelling and boat trips to spot for local birdlife, including the Bird of Paradise. The stylish spa area offers a range of treatments with superb ocean views, and the sound of waves gently lapping - much more relaxing than pan pipes! There are no other facilities to speak of, but who needs an infinity pool when you’re surrounded by one of Earth’s most impressive marine habitats?
We SayBrilliantly placed for a spot of world-class diving, and Attenborough-level bird watching
