Borneo

An Insider's Borneo 12 days

If you’re keen to get under the skin of the country you’re visiting and gain an insight into local life, our Insider’s itineraries are for you. Designed around unique travel experiences and showcasing lesser-known gems, these itineraries mix adventure with an equal helping of comfort and relaxation.

An Insider's Borneo explores the caves of the Niah National Park, where signs of ancient life have been discovered by archaeologists; treks into the remote Kelabit Highlands where traditional life continues much as it has for generations; and climbs to the summit of Borneo’s highest peak – Mount Kinabalu.

The trip concludes with time to relax and reflect on your experiences on Gaya Island, a beautiful island nature reserve just off the Kota Kinabalu coast. Over the course of 12 days you’ll observe stunning natural scenery and experience genuine warmth and hospitality.

Not enough R&R time? If you would prefer a more relaxed travel programme speak to your Selective Asia consultant about extending your stay. We can tailor this holiday to meet your exact needs - your holiday, your way.

  • Not enough wildlife spotting? Top of the list for many is a night or two in Danum Valley, staying at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. There are some excellent treks in the vicinity, and the lodge boasts its very own rainforest canopy walk. The area has a well deserved reputation for being one of the best places to view Borneo's wildlife.
  • A visit to the famous caves at Mulu can be easily added to this itinerary. The caves are located within Gunung Mulu, Sarawak’s largest National Park and home to a record breaking cave. We recommend spending two days exploring four outstanding caves and rainforest.
