The Lotus Houseboat
Malabar Backwaters | Other
Cruising Kerala’s maze of waterways in this bright, converted rice barge is an ideal way to see these legendary backwaters.
Two light and surprisingly spacious cabins have been created inside, with white walls leading to curved ceilings, honey-toned teak floors and furniture, and vibrant artworks. Splashes of vivid blue, pink and purple give the spaces a contemporary lift.
Secluded verandahs are perfect for sitting out enjoying the morning sun or taking a few peaceful moments during the heat of the day, and the en-suites have comprehensive, modern facilities with just as much luxury as any high-end hotel.
Inside the wheelhouse, a lounge area offers somewhere cosy to curl up with a book, or you can head up on deck to stretch out on a sun lounger. Ayurvedic massage and yoga can be arranged with ease, and as you cruise you’ll be able to spot fascinating birds and wildlife along the shore.
The onboard chef creates a spectrum of local and international dishes, including continental breakfasts and afternoon teas complete with specialist infusions and tempting cakes. If you wish, you can spend a leisurely hour or so fishing for your own dinner, and end the evening with a sundowner or two up on deck.
We SayA modern, uncluttered boat with plenty of calm space - the perfect way to cruise.
