Rakkojae Seoul

Seoul | First Class

This carefully renovated 130 year old ‘hanok’ house has been transformed into comfortable guest accommodation in a peaceful suburb of Seoul, and offers an excellent alternative to a city centre hotel.

Guest rooms are presented in a traditional style with warm jade floors, tranquil decor and antique wooden furniture. Carved screens open into the property’s patio gardens, which wind between the property’s cluster of wooden buildings. All bathrooms have a soaking tub and shower, and some rooms also have their own private outdoor space.

Guests are served a traditional Korean or continental breakfast in the cosy dining room, with dinner available on request, and you can join in culinary activities such as kimchi making and tea tasting if desired. As you might expect, there’s no gym or pool, but there is a yellow mud sauna - not a place to get muddy, but built from cleansing mud and heated with a wood fire.

We Say
Just a stone’s throw from Gyeongbokgung Royal Palace, this traditional Korean home is a charming place to stay
