Situated a pleasant 20-minute walk away from Tsumago, the Hanaya is a well-established ryokan. The oldest part of the property dates as far back as the 17th century Edo period but guest rooms are mainly in the newer building.
Expect comfort without an excess of style and do make sure to sample the delicious seasonal homemade cuisine that centres on freshwater fish from the surrounding rivers. To round your day off there is nothing better than relaxing in the shared hinoki wood bath.
