Hyatt Regency Kyoto

Kyoto | Deluxe

Situated in a secluded old district in central Kyoto, the stylish Hyatt Regency is conveniently close to several important temples and the National Museum, as well as key transport hubs for exploring the city and beyond.

The hotel is designed in a contemporary low-rise fashion - on the comfortable side of minimalist, and spacious without feeling empty. Decor is simple and fashionable, with geometric moulded textures in the cream carpets, and a rectangular theme throughout the angular beech furniture, the lighting, and the smart neutral upholstery. Diverse Japanese textiles are hung along the walls in neat panels, bringing a sense of place and added visual interest. The baths are great - boxlike wooden plunge tubs that sit on marble floors, with nothing else there to distract - a zen bathroom, if you will, although there are of course loos, and vanity style sinks.

The hotel is well placed for dining out, but boasts three good restaurants of its own, including an Italian trattoria and French grill, as well as traditional Japanese. The spa is comprehensive, with ten treatment rooms (including two with private whirlpools) and a great range of traditional therapies and pampering rituals. The well equipped fitness room offers regular yoga classes, and nutritional therapists are on hand to help with diet.

We Say
Smart contemporary hotel with a relaxing philosophy in central Kyoto.
