Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge

Chitwan National Park | Deluxe

Having relocated from its original site within Chitwan National Park to a serene location on the outskirts, Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge has evolved to become one of Nepal’s top eco resorts. With a focus on sustainability, an up-to-date approach to elephant care, and experienced staff on hand to ensure your stay is stress-free, Tharu Lodge is perfect for exploring the neighbouring National Park and spotting some of the area’s diverse wildlife.

The accommodation is split between generously sized lodge-style bungalows and safari tents, all with a simple yet welcoming feel. Bamboo roofs and window coverings bring in tradition and contemporary sustainability, creating a rustic look which is echoed in the woven rugs and raw finish bedspreads. Most of the rooms are decorated in natural tones of cream, ochre, terracotta and cocoa, reflecting the hotel’s sustainable ethos, while accents of deep reds and blues lift the space. Occasional elephant motifs tie the interiors in with the resort’s conservation work. Storm lamps bring a camping feel after dark, softened by the flicker of candles in cosy corners. The en-suites are surprisingly bright and modern, given their simple facilities, with just a few luxury touches here and there for an added boost.

Home-grown, organic ingredients are combined in a variety of traditional Nepali and international dishes, served either in the indoor restaurant, or al fresco in the garden. A simple terrace surrounds a good-sized outdoor pool, where you can cool off with a swim or lay back on a lounger. Play a game of tennis if you’re feeling active, or sway gently in a hammock if you want to kick back for a while. Go trekking in Chitwan National Park, learn about the resort’s work with elephants, and explore the local villages, before ending the day with a boat safari on the river to watch the sun set over the water.

The subject of animal welfare is an emotive issue – and rightly so. For our policy on wildlife projects and how we ensure your wildlife experience will be ethical and responsible click here.

We Say
As one of Nepal’s best eco-resorts, their commitment to combining sustainability with a top-class guest experience is impressive.
