India visa information

Is an entry visa required for India?

Yes you will require a visa to travel to India which must be arranged in advance of travel. Your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from your arrival date into India, and must be machine-readable and have at least two blank pages.

How do I obtain my e-Tourist visa?

Visit the following website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html and complete the online form. Give yourself plenty of time as it’s lengthy! You will also need to upload a recent photograph (a headshot taken against a white background), and an image of the photo page of your passport that holds all your personal information. Payment will be required by credit or debit card. It’s important that you apply at least 7 days in advance of your arrival date, giving enough time for visa processing. Confirmation of your e-Tourist Visa will be emailed to you. You will need to print off this confirmation and produce it on arrival into India.

How long is the e-Tourist visa valid for? 

There are three durations available: 30 days, 1 year or 5 years. The e-Tourist visa is valid from the date of entry into India. The 30-day visa is issued for a double entry; the long term visas are valid for multiple entries.

Who can use the e-Tourist visa service? 

Citizens of  the UK, EU countries, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States and many other nationalities can use the e-Tourist Visa. If you are of Pakistani origin or have Pakistani family then you must apply for a traditional Indian visa. If you need further clarification please speak to your destination specialist.

There is thermal screening of passengers on arrival, and random testing of 2% of all international travellers over 12 years old upon arrival into India.
