Mu Cang Chai Eco Lodge
Mu Cang Chai | Standard
Sustainable tourism is at the heart of the Eco Lodge, perched high in the rice paddies of the Mu Cang Chai province. The area is mostly inhabited by the Hmong people, who also work at the lodge, providing a welcome injection of sustainable income to this rural community. Sapa is easily accessible by car and the lodge is well-connected with the highways to the capital of Hanoi.
Stilt lodges perch at the top of the hillside, modelled on traditional Hmong houses and consciously crafted to respect the surrounding countryside. Water buffalo and workers dot the lush, green rice paddies, and morning mists give way to blue skies and panoramic views. Rooms are simple and decorated with neo-Renaissance style furniture and dark wood flooring. There may not be rainforest showers, but the bathrooms are clean, comfortable and offer all essential amenities.
Meals are served in the lodge restaurant, a friendly and communal space. Cuisine is Vietnamese, so guests can enjoy plenty of pho, and fresh herbs and vegetables from the surrounding fields.
The main attraction for visitors is experiencing a unique insight into Northern Vietnam, and whether you visit the local villages and trails by foot or bicycle, there’s sure to be plenty to delight and explore.
