Commodore Hotel

Gyeongju | Superior

The Commodore makes a comfortable base for exploring the historical city of Gyeongju. Whilst it may not be the most attractive looking property in town, this 1970’s-built hotel boasts an enviable location on the edge of Lake Bomun, within easy access of the Silla tombs and Gyeongju’s other historic sites.

Interior décor is a little dated, but the size of the guest rooms compensate, with plenty of space if you’re travelling with a family. Choose from a traditional Korean-style ondol room with under-floor heating, or a classic-style western room, all of which enjoy views towards the mountains or Lake Bomun. It’s worth requesting a room on the higher floors for better views.

The Commodore’s central location means there are plenty of dining options within walking distance, however if you choose to eat in the hotel there are three restaurants to choose from, offering Korean, Japanese and western menus. The lobby lounge boasts lake views, and ‘soft’ live music can be enjoyed here during the evenings. Alternatively you can sing your heart out at the in-house karaoke club. Other notable facilities include a large outdoor pool that is surrounded by gardens, with plenty of space to relax after a day of sightseeing.
