Reethi Beach Resort

Fonimagoodhoo Island, Baa Atoll

A true Maldives connoisseur, Reethi Beach has been offering its signature blend of simple tropical accommodation overwater, alongside the rich marine life underwater, to loyal guests for more than 20 years and still appears to be going strong. This is the ideal place to find yourself cast away. A pint-sized paradise with a lovingly preserved jungle feel.

The simple villas are detached or semi-detached with golden beaches straight ahead, or balanced on stilts over the turquoise shallows. The décor is clean, light and airy, if perhaps a little dated, but Reethi isn’t aiming for lovers of technology or contemporary styling. There are abundant activities available on land, but the real gems are to be found beyond in the atoll’s thriving waters…

Location

Reethi Beach can be found marooned on Fonimagoodhoo Island in the Baa Atoll, a pretty 35-minute seaplane flight from Male International airport.

From a client…

It's rustic, but somehow that feels right when you’re on an island in the middle of nowhere, and snorkelling on the house reef was mind-blowing!

Why we love it

Discover what to expect from staying at Reethi Beach Resort

Sociable & laid-back

Whilst many Maldives resorts can feel like the preserve of couples and honeymooners, Reethi has a more sociable atmosphere. Beach bars are set around the island offering natural hangouts for those returning from snorkelling, and perfect after a spot of sunbathing. The dive centre is a popular hub for new and experienced underwater explorers, many of whom keep coming back year on year. If staying in an overwater villa is on your bucket list, Reethi Beach will give you the whole experience, complete with steps descending straight into the ocean, without breaking the bank.

What can you do there?

Although there’s no law that says you have to snorkel or dive at Reethi Beach, the majority of guests can’t wait to discover their underwater surroundings. The house reef remains one of the Maldives’ best, with a huge variety of colourful fish, turtles and reef sharks. The surrounding Baa Atoll continues the theme of abundant marine life. In season, a trip to nearby Hanifaru Bay is a must, where (given a bit of luck) you can snorkel amongst manta rays.
