Trinco Blu Trincomalee
Trincomalee | First Class
A unique beach resort on Sri Lanka’s East coast, the Trinco Blu Trincomalee was formerly a 1970s architectural curiosity designed to resemble a big ship! It was relaunched with bags of retro kudos in 2010.
Near to Trincomalee town and right on Uppuveli beach, with its excellent watersports, abundant marine life and golden sands, the resort offers beachside chalets with instant access to the surf, and discreet sunny rooms and suites tucked away in the original building.
All are distinctively styled with a retro beach aesthetic of white walls and drapes, white-painted wooden furniture, set off by contrasting sea blue denim furnishings and accents of sunset orange. Marine-themed signature art decorates the walls and big windows look out onto the beach or pool. The bathrooms, with their polished concrete walls and mosaic mirrors, are not the world’s most stylish, but they’re well-equipped and feature rain showers to wash off all that sand.
Dine on a global but spicy menu in the Captain’s Deck, which continues the seaside theme, or the lovely open air Crab restaurant where you can enjoy a la carte seafood on the sand. The Rum Hold bar features nice views over the ocean and stocks a good selection of local and international spirits, signature cocktails and fresh local fruit juice.
The pleasant pool is surrounded by a wooden sundeck and leads straight onto the beach.
We SayA great base for whale and dolphin watching and not forgetting boat trips to nearby Pigeon Island
