The Fort Printers
The utterly charming Fort Printers hotel was originally a school house, later a print house before being turned into its latest reincarnation: a boutique-style hotel.
Located in the very heart of Galle’s Old Town, close to the fort ramparts, amongst the pick of the craft and antiques shops, The Fort Printers oozes charm and character. With just thirteen guest rooms, the experience and service is highly personal.
Choose from a room in the original building with polished hard wood floors and exposed wood beams, or one of the slightly more contemporary suites in the two newer wings (one of which is located across a small quiet street). Either way expect maximum space and comfort and luxurious bathrooms.
Dining at Fort Printers is a highlight of most guests’ stay. A frequently changing menu of predominantly fresh seafood and organic local produce is served in the dining room or on the veranda. The freshly baked bread and croissants make breakfast well worth getting up for! There is a small terrace area to the rear alongside what must be one of the smallest swimming pools in Sri Lanka - if you’re into your morning lengths then this may not be the hotel for you!
We Say‘Boutique’ is such an overused and incorrectly assigned term in the world of hotels these days, so it is always a pleasure to stumble upon the real deal. The Fort Printers is exactly what the term was invented for and we absolutely love it.
