Leopard Trails Tented Safari Camp

Near Yala National Park | Other

Blessed with a varied range of wildlife, Sri Lanka’s National Parks are a treasure trove for nature buffs, and these comfortable safari camps will get you right in amongst the action. There’s nothing like being up early and into the parks before everyone else turns up, and you’ll be pitched up right outside Yala and Wilpattu - home to the largest leopard populations in the world, and wandering herds of Asian elephant.

High quality guiding is key to the Leopard Trails experience and their safari guides are some of the most experienced, knowledgeable and passionate in the industry. They are passionate about giving the best experience possible whilst on safari; experts in tracking and spotting the park’s diverse species, often heading to quieter areas to get the most uninterrupted views possible. The camp's staff are likewise excellent hosts, attending to guests’ needs and cooking up delicious local fare in the camp kitchen. Meals continue the outdoor theme, eaten with fellow guests around a candlelit table at night, offering plenty of opportunity to discuss the day’s top spots.

Classic Safari Tent
Cleverly designed canvas safari tents redefine the experience of camping in the wilderness, with comfortable double beds, plenty of room for luggage, and a dedicated bathroom area with a Western-style toilet and shower. The spacious veranda is perfect for early morning coffees before you head into the park to spot some wildlife.

Air-conditioned Luxury Tents

If a little more home comfort is needed, an air-conditioned luxury tent should fit the bill nicely! Carpeted floors lead through to an attractive living area with a large double bed, cosy armchairs, dressing table, and electric bedside lamps. Bathrooms are also taken up a notch, featuring large showers, Western-style toilets, and dual sinks that wouldn’t look out of place at a hotel.

We Say
Leopard Trails has access to the less crowded Katagamuwa entrance of the Yala park: which means avoiding the more touristy sections of the park and heading away from the main traffic.
