Koh Lanta: An Introduction

Koh Lanta is in fact a district consisting of several islands. The two largest are Koh Lanta Noi and Koh Lanta Yai. Whilst Noi is inhabited, it is Koh Lanta Yai that is becoming recognised as an up-and-coming tourist destination with much to offer visitors to the Land of Smiles.

Popular with tourists seeking a holiday away from the big parties associated with some of the other Thai islands such as Koh Phan Ngan and Koh Phi Phi; the islands main attractions are beach walks, nature trails and lazy days enjoying the clear blue waters. It’s a tough life! There are a number of undevelpoed beaches to discover across the island, with taxi (songtaew) or bicycle hire cheap and readily available

Koh Lanta is a scenic hours ferry journey from Krabi and makes the perfect base to explore some of the other close lying islands on days trips.
