Topas Eco Lodge
Sapa | First Class
With breathtaking views across the scenic valleys below, which are home to villages populated by the Tay and Red Dao minorities, the Topas Eco Lodge does take around 30 minutes to reach by car from the centre of Sapa - but you won't regret making the effort.
The Lodge is deep within the Sapa Valley, atop two cone-shaped hills - it doesn't get much more removed from the hustle and bustle of life than this. While facilities are reasonably basic, they're very comfortable, finished in natural textures like stone, terracotta and wood, and softened with splashes of warm colour and local textiles. Bathrooms are simple and airy, tiled in warm neutrals and equipped with attractive contemporary fixtures.
Guests dine on a mostly traditional, mostly Vietnamese menu in the lodge’s restaurant, which is comprised of two Tay stilt houses that were painstakingly moved from their original locations and rebuilt in their new location, which takes full advantage of the magnificent scenery all around.
Views from the Lodge are all truly spectacular, whether you're relaxing at the outdoor dining area or setting off, by foot or bike, down one of the excellent nearby trails. But the best view has to be from the new, heated infinity swimming pool.
We SayAnything the Topas lacks in facilities is more than made up for by its spectacular location, surrounded by the lush Sapa hills, exciting trails and minority villages.
