Isaan Isan Boutique Resort
Khao Yai National Park | First Class
Conveniently situated on the edge of Khao Yai National Park, Isaan Isan Boutique Resort takes natural materials, and the fabrics, patterns and cuisine of northeast Thailand’s Isan culture, and weaves them together to create a relaxed and refreshingly colourful escape.
From its dramatic entrance, featuring a wood and bamboo ‘porch’ and a reception building encased in a lattice of bamboo polls, it’s clear that Isaan Isan Boutique Resort likes to cut a dash. Inside reception, tall rattan panels soar up the walls and the lofty ceiling has colourful mobiles hanging from it. The pops of bright colour continue in the guest rooms and suites, where bright check fabrics, typical of the Isan region, contrast with wooden flooring and white bedding.
The generous breakfasts get the thumbs up from most guests here, and the restaurant specialises in local Isan cuisine, which is influenced by the food of nearby Laos (think, sticky rice rather than long grain). There’s a wellness centre offering treatments and massage, and the gardens are nicely designed with ponds, streams, walkways and a swimming pool – look out for the hornbills that often fly over. You’re perfectly placed for trekking and wildlife watching in Khao Yai National Park, and the resort has bikes that are free to use.
Kooky architecture and colourful fabrics give Isaan Isan a relaxed and unique feel.
