Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival
A full moon is a symbol of happiness and family reunion, triggering one of the big three Chinese festivals – and the custom of eating moon cakes.
Double Ninth Festival
On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, the positivity (‘yang’) of the lucky number is celebrated in the Chung Yang Festival. Climb a hill. Drink chrysanthemum wine. The local Taiwanese twist on festivities is to fly a kite.
Taiwan National Day
A busy national holiday, featuring military parades in honour of the 1911 Wuchang Uprising. 10th October
