Mazu Goddess of the Sea Festival
The patron deity of seafarers is enshrined in some 900 coastal temples nationwide, but perhaps the wildest celebration of her birthday occurs at Taichung City in central western Taiwan. Expect dragon dances, drum entertainments, martial arts displays and feasting at every large Mazu temple.
Matsu Pilgrimage
An annual pilgrimage from Zhenlan Temple in Dajia to Fengtian Temple in Xingang. Thousands of pilgrims follow a revered Matsu statue on this week 350km long journey
