South Korea

Essential South Korea 11 days

Essential South Korea delves deeper into the country, visiting the not-to-be-missed highlights as well as exploring the country’s seemingly untouched corners and natural attractions, all in just under two weeks.

Travelling from north to south, your first port of call is the sprawling metropolis of Seoul, where in addition to touring the city you will make a trip to the famous DMZ – the heavily militarised border between North and South Korea. Swapping city life for the countryside, your journey heads inland to the craggy peaks and forested slopes of Songnisan National Park. An overnight stay will give you time for trekking and the opportunity to soak up the tranquil surrounds.

Your next stop is foodie-focused Jeonju, a designated UNESCO City of Gastronomy and the birthplace of bibimbap, one of Korea’s most well-known dishes. Naturally your stay in Jeonju includes a cooking class (when in Rome…!) From here, head eastwards to Gyeongju, frequently referred to as the ‘museum without walls’ due to its proliferation of cultural and historical treasures, before continuing south to Busan, the country’s second largest city, famous for its beaches and seafood. From Busan a high speed train journey will return you to Seoul in time for your departing flight.

As with all our itineraries, we have created (some) free time for you to enjoy as you please. If you would prefer a more ‘complete’ travel programme, we will be happy to oblige. We can also tailor this holiday to meet your exact needs - your holiday, your way.

Highlights

  • Visit the Bridge of Freedom as you experience the surreal yet fascinating DMZ.
  • Enjoy sunset from Martyr’s mountain, before dining on street food at the local market in Jeonju.
  • Gaze across to Japans Tsushima Islands from the clifftops of Busan.

We only provide privately guided holidays - meaning that you will not be expected to share guides or transport for the duration of your visit. You can also start on any day you choose.

Please click on the hotel category buttons below to view hotel details. These are recommended properties only - we have many alternative options for you to choose from if you would prefer. You can mix hotel categories throughout your holiday.
