Three Mountain Lodge, Bandipur
Three Mountain Lodge feels about as far from fast-paced city life as you can get. Reaching the lodge requires a fair degree of fitness and determination, as it’s a good three-hour trek from Bandipur village (the last 40 minutes of which necessitates some serious climbing) but the view when you get to the ridge makes it all worthwhile. Hill trekking is what a stay at this resort is all about and it’s ideally positioned for getting out into the mountainous landscape around Bandipur.
Gurung Lodge, Majgaon
With incredible mountain views and a high-altitude location, Gurung Lodge offers a breath of fresh air, comfortable accommodation and excellent trekking. Guests stay in ensuite rooms in traditional stone lodges decorated in bright local style. Enjoy regional specialities in the shared dining hall and relax in the carefully tended gardens with outstanding views over the mountains. As evening draws in, cosy up around one of the indoor fireplaces.
Mala Lodge, Tomijong
Just fifteen minutes walk away from Gurung, you’ll find Mala Lodge – Gurung’s sister property. Mala’s views are every bit as superb as Gurung’s, and its cosy rooms, welcoming dining hall and snug bar add further flexibility to your treks in the Majgaon region. Machhapuchhre Mountain rises high above the lodge, sheltering it within its shadow. Traditional-style stone walls and low roofs help the lodge blend in beautifully with its surroundings, and the interiors have an open and contemporary feel.
Sanctuary Lodge, Birethanti
With superb views of Nepal’s sacred Fishtail Mountain, the hand-built Sanctuary Lodge lives up to its name by offering a cosy welcome at the end of a day’s trek along the Modi River. The rooms are bright yet snug, with wooden floors, colourful carpets, local textiles and decorative artwork on the walls. Relax in the serene gardens with the region’s extraordinary scenery as a backdrop.
