The Pavilions Himalaya

Pokhara | Superior

Tucked away in a forested valley, around 30 minutes’ drive from Pokhara, The Pavilions Himalaya offers eco-friendly sustainable luxury on an organic farm in the shadow of the Annapurna range.

The Pavilions Himalaya was founded on a strong commitment to the natural environment and the welfare of local people. The resort is run on solar and renewable energy, harvests rainwater and makes its own biodegradable toiletries. It supports the local school and clinic, and runs charitable schemes with the aim of employing and training local people.

Accommodation is in private villas, dotted around the farm, where contemporary rustic style is blended with traditional Nepalese touches, including exposed stone walls and local handicrafts. Each villa sleeps two and has its own fireplace – bliss after a winter trek – and private terrace, open onto the unspoiled landscape.

At The Pavilions Himalaya, most of the fresh produce and dairy products served in the all-day dining restaurant are grown on site, organically. Chefs rustle up dishes that explore Nepal’s food culture alongside international favourites, with a menu based on what’s in season and available on the farm. In warmer months, you can enjoy dining at tables arranged in the garden, and a pre or post dinner drink in the lounge’s swing seats ramps up the relaxation levels.

The impressive wellness centre has a state-of-the-art spa and yoga studio, a sauna and Jacuzzi – ideal for soothing tired muscles after a trek. There’s an outdoor pool, too, with more lovely, long views of Nepal’s landscape as its backdrop. Cookery classes, a tour of the resort’s farm and village visits give you a chance to explore Nepalese culture and the resort’s responsible stance.
