In the heart of Mandalay, just a 5 minute walk from the Royal Palace, the Bagan King Hotel may look a little uninspiring from the outside, but once inside, the teak floors, gold-leaf ceiling and traditional motifs create an ornate sense of place.

The rooms themselves are brighter and calmer that the highly decorative communal areas, giving you somewhere restful to return to after sightseeing. The views over Mandalay Hill and the city’s rooftops from the restaurant are a nice highlight.
