The Amara Mountain Resort’s timber-framed buildings contain a handful of welcoming, airy rooms with cosy open fires. Surrounded by cool pine forests, this is a great place to take a break from Myanmar’s higher temperatures elsewhere.

Head out to explore the surrounding landscape by bike or on foot, kayak down a nearby waterway, and enjoy quiet birdwatching walks in the forests, before returning to the resort to unwind with a traditional massage at the spa.
