Mr Charles Guesthouse

Hsipaw | Standard

A backpacker-style guesthouse; that Mr Charles’s owns the best place in town is without question. The standard is more than adequate for most staying a night or two night in this charming Shan town.

Rooms are simple but well kept and of a good size (we only use deluxe and junior suites), Whilst Hsipaw has power (6pm – 10pm most nights and a few irregular hours in the morning) there is air-conditioning, hot showers and tv.
Being centrally located it can be a bit noisy with several early-waking monasteries in close vicinity, however this is what Hsipaw is all about and most visitors appreciate the somewhat hypnotic alarm call! Whilst many rooms have their own, there’s also a pleasant communal balcony and lounge areas where you can relax with a book or swap stories with fellow travellers.

Breakfast is served on the drive way-cum-terrace and Hsipaw’s main drag is right on your doorstep giving you easy access to a handful of good eateries in the evening.

We Say
In a country such as Myanmar, getting off the beaten track means leaving the 5*'s, or perhaps that should be 2*'s, behind. This is real travel!
