Monywa | Standard
The Chindwin is a simple but welcoming hotel in central Monywa, where good hotels are still something of a rarity. A stone’s throw from the Chindwin River and gorgeous Kan Thar Yar Lake, the hotel is within easy distance of the town’s various attractions, including the Thambuddhei Paya, which contains over 500,000 images of Buddha. The town is also a great base for exploring the Sagaing region and Chindwin valley.
It would be dishonest to suggest that the Chindwin’s rooms are in any way stylish - it’s all laminates and high-sheen textiles - but they are spacious, smartly kept, and feature homely modern bathrooms with tubs.
When it comes to dining, the hotel’s restaurant is a little canteen-esque but does feature excellent views across the valley, a respectable menu of Mynama and Asian favourites, and a smart (if somewhat petite) bar.
