Food to write home about
Great food is almost a given in the Maldives, but Soneva Fushi takes it to a different level. Highlights include ‘Fresh in the Garden’ where delicious vegetarian cuisine is served nestled amongst the treetops, and ‘Shades of Green’, where Maldivian and South-East Asian cuisine, enhanced by Nordic techniques, is served following a tour of the chef’s garden. Time your stay right and you might also run into one of the ‘Soneva Stars’: celebrated chefs who spend time at the resort catering for exclusive dinner events.
Graceful manta rays
For those visiting just outside peak season, the most memorable reward comes just 20 minutes away by speedboat in Hanifaru Bay. Here, manta rays gather to gorge in the plankton-rich waters. Although sightings don’t happen every day, they are frequent, offering the chance to see these huge, other-worldly creatures twirl and dance through the water.
