Le Grand Pakbeng

Pakbeng | Superior

Accommodation in Pakbeng is generally on the comfortable and functional side: slightly rough around the edges, but perfectly adequate for what is typically a one night stay when travelling along the Mekong River between the Thai border and the town of Luang Prabang. There are only a couple of superior exceptions, one of which is the newly opened Le Grand.

From its lofty location on a hilltop on the outskirts of Pakbeng, Le Grand boasts enviable panoramic views over the Mekong River and surrounding countryside. Views that can be enjoyed from the large infinity swimming pool and the restaurant terrace; through the floor to ceiling windows and from the private balcony of every villa. Inside, the villas fuse the contemporary (rain-showers and free-standing ceramic sinks) with the traditional (teak wood furniture). Peak-roofed ceilings and white-washed walls give a sense of space to an already good-sized room. If you haven’t bagged a table on the restaurant’s outdoor terrace, take a seat opposite the open kitchen and watch Chef King and his team as they prepare Asian and Mediterranean dishes.

We Say
Le Grand gives a reason to stay in Pakbeng for a second night.
