Hidatei Hanaougi Takayama
Takayama | Ryokan
The Hidatei Hanaougi is a traditional Japanese ryokan with its own hot spring in a peaceful neighbourhood on that outskirts of Takayama. The inn upholds traditional ryokan hospitality values, making sure you are well taken care of throughout your stay.
Built from a variety of famous local woods, the property’s architecture is calming and stylish, with beautifully traditional spaces in which to relax after time spent exploring Takayama.
Guest rooms feature sliding paper screens, tatami mats, low wooden tables and warm lighting. The larger rooms benefit from a private open air bath tub fed by hot spring water, and the largest has its own garden area.
Fine meals prepared from in-season local ingredients are served in private rooms where you can relax as a couple or family, and of course there is the small matter of the on-site hot spring.
The shared (but gender-segregated) spring baths are charming onsen areas that are half-covered, half open to the fresh air, and fed by a hot spring that bubbles up from three quarters of a mile beneath the inn. Their sodium hydrogen carbonate waters enjoy a reputation as beautifying as well as relaxing, so you should come away feeling nicely rejuvenated!
