Jungle Lodge

Tangkahan | Standard

The arrival at Jungle Lodge entails crossing from one side of the river to the other via a suspension bridge: not for the faint hearted! But this is the Sumatran jungle – so an element of adventure and mild peril should be expected!

The lodge sits nestled amidst the trees, overlooking the Bamboo River on the edge of the Gunung Leuser National Park. Thatched roof bungalows make up the accommodation which is basic but comfortable, with a mosquito net over the bed and a simple bathroom with a shower, although there is no hot water. The jungle or river views that can be enjoyed from the private balcony compensates for the lack of room amenities and nearby hot springs provide a jungle bath of sorts! Hidden amidst the foliage is also a small on-site restaurant where home-cooked meals are served.

The Jungle Lodge is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding National Park, either by foot or on the back of a local Sumatran elephant.
