Sit back and enjoy mile-after-mile of uninterrupted coastline

A great way to travel at least part of the distance between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is by train, a famous route known as the Reunification Express.  To do the journey non-stop would be unheard of, but by breaking the journey into more manageable chunks makes travelling by train through Vietnam a very realistic option.

In reality, choosing just one section of the coastal route is favourable for most, with Hanoi to Hue, or Danang to Nha Trang being amongst the most popular due to the picturesque landscapes you’ll travel through.

The railway system in Vietnam is remarkably efficient and any journey is not only especially rewarding for those who appreciate true overland travel with a minimal reliance on flights, but also a great way to enjoy the company of locals. Journeys can usually be scheduled as daytime or overnight (sleepers) with daytime berths converting to comfortable beds after dark. A number of private companies operate semi-luxury carriages joined onto the government trains affording guests a higher degree of comfort and the possibility of private compartments and a dining car.
