Communications

Mobile

Mobile phones are widely used in the main cities and some of the smaller towns in Laos. You will find that the reception is a little irregular but you will be able to use your mobile phone to stay in touch much of the time.

Email and Internet

Available when travelling in Laos and extremely cheap. An hour on an ADSL connection will cost you as little as $0.25 in Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang and Vientiane. Things are developing fast elsewhere.

Post

Post is available in almost every town in Laos. Service is slow to Europe and should not be considered as immensely reliable.

Electricity Connections

You will require a universal adapter for any electrical appliances you are carrying when travelling in Laos. Service is generally very good although power cuts are not uncommon, usually for just a short period of time.
