Khao Lak: An Introduction

The picturesque Khao Lak is located just 100km north of Phuket, directly up the Andaman coast. The town boasts a stunning beach line as well as tropical forest to the rear - much of which is a rich and diverse national park.

Considered by many to the 'upper class' sister of Phuket, Khao Lak had to extensively rebuild after 90% of the hotels were damaged or destroyed by the December 2004 tsunami. The rebuild is now complete with great care taken to ensure that areas outstanding natural beauty has been preserved.

The Andaman Sea provides ideal swimming conditions all year round, Khao Lak is a destination for those looking to enjoy a multitude of water based activities. Just off the mainland there are several small islands that can be easily reached by local long-tail boat and provide an ideal spot for day trips and BBQ lunches on deserted islands!
