Hotel Class Explained

Standard

starstar

Good, basic amenities, well kept and often characterful. Hotels are often small, centrally located and offer a personal experience. Bathrooms are en-suite (unless specified).

First Class

starstarstar

Comfortable en-suite guest rooms, good amenities and public areas. Most first class properties offer a restaurant on-site and many will have a swimming pool.

Superior

starstarstarstar

Good superior accommodation offering a range of services. Many superior hotels feature a choice of restaurants and, in addition, virtually all have a swimming pool plus, in some instances, a spa and health club.

Deluxe

starstarstarstarstar

Deluxe hotels offer the highest standards of service and facilities and are acknowledged as the leading properties in the region. Facilities such as swimming pools and spas are the norm, and guest rooms are luxurious, with an excellent standard of amenities.

Home Stays

homestay

As far as we are aware, there are no * ratings awarded for home stays as yet. As the title suggests, you will actually be a guest in someone’s home. We often use home stays when trekking and visiting minority tribal villages, allowing our guests to really experience life in these more remote destinations. We also feature a handful of city centre home stays. The standard of facilities varies depending on location.

Why don't we use the more recognisable * rating?

Quite simply because there is a huge disparity between grading systems in each country. There is no international governing body, and this leads to a vast difference in each * category from one country to the next.
